Chapter 389 389: The Conclave II

While he practically grew up knowing everybody in this estate, from the maids, to the chef the guards and even the gardeners. Cole could not afford to let his guard down, these were still his grandfather and grandmothers people. They might have been his family but things have changed.

The moment the car stopped the first person he saw was master Kaito, not his brother though. Kaito had originally been named after the top enforcer of the family and their grandfather\'s right hand man, after he had saved their mom from an assassination attempt during Kaito\'s pregnancy.

"Welcome home Master Cole." the older Japanese gentleman and the person who has been mainly responsible for turning Cole into the combat demon that he was.

"This is no longer my home Sensei." Cole replied as he squared off in front of his teacher, Master Kaito chuckled, as he stepped forwards and placed his right hand on Cole\'s head like he used to do when Cole was younger.

"Perhaps, but the chickens all come home to roost one way or the other. But that should not stop you from giving me a hug now would it." Cole smiled back at the man. "No it wouldn\'t." and he stepped into the embrace of the older man, heedless of the amount of eyes they had on themselves.

"I am happy to see Cole shonen. But we can catch up later, there is a party going on after all, you don want to be late. Isn\'t that right Tehila darling?" Tehila smiled and came up to master Kaito, Cole\'s parents not too far behind.

"I don\'t think Cole cares about this party as much as you do Elder Kaito. But never the less we really should be running along." she said to him with a smile as she gave him a kiss on the cheek and dragged Cole along, their own bodyguards following behind them, one of which unbeknownst to everyone else was Delarosa, hidden within Cole\'s shadow for security, just in case things get out of hand.

Hopefully nothing liken that would be happening here, Cole has had enough drama from his family to last him a lifetime, so while he was always prepared for problems, he really hoped nothing like that would come up. He was just a little tired from everything recently, so frankly speaking he\'d just wanted to be left alone.

Cole and Tehila stepped into the house with poise and steps of people who had great familiarity with the place. Everywhere he passed, the workers and guards in the house all stopped to either stare or pass on a swift greeting. Cole was not sure how many "Good evening master Cole" he heard by the time he reached the ballroom.

Never the less it made him feel good. Many of the people here he grew up with as kids, others watched him grow up and others knew him by reputation from afar. But from what he could see, or rather what he could sense, the amount of negative emotions felt due to his presence was little to almost nonexistent. In fact he could feel something he really didn\'t expect from anyone here…..Loyalty.

"Don\'t be so surprised Cole. You grew up here, in this house, loving everyone here just as they loved you in return. The youngest of the night brothers, the most lovable, gullible, mischievous. Talented but above all else the one with the truest heart. A heart that was too pure for this business...you are loved here, even if you think otherwise. This is your home, and everyone here can think for themselves, they might answer to your grandparents however they don\'t work for them. They work for the Night family, for you and the rest, so they can be on your side just as much as they could be on your grandparents."

"Be careful sister in law. don\'t have my brother believing in fairy tales because you want to spare his feelings here. The people here are just being polite, plus Cole is now more famous than even the World Council….the stares and greetings are the consequences of that ill gotten fame." Cole rolled his eyes and he locked eyes with another family member, but one who\'s side of the family Cole has not had too much interactions with.

"Darius...it\'s been a while...cousin." Cole said to him as her cocked his head to the side, locking eyes with the 7 foot tall hulking frame of his cousin. His hair was clean shaven, leaving his bald chocolate head exposed and gleaming. Cole\'s grandfather had siblings of his own too, and they were in charge of other branches of the family.

"If your sorry ass is here then I take it everyone else is to?" Tehila asked him as she gave him a small smile, Darius smiled back at her, but could not keep his eyes on her\'s as he fidgeted. He was nervous, a realization that made Cole raise an eyebrow, just before a deluge of desire and lust washed over him with strong emotions of love.

He turned to look at Tehila who in turned looked back at him. They could feel the same thing, and from the look on her face it was obvious she had no idea Darius had feelings for her. But beyond that before she became a Raen Tehila was incapable of feeling emotions, a medical condition that had caused a lot of pain in her life and strain in her relationships.

"Well yeah everyone is here! This is a Conclave, the first of its kind for the Night Family. Our entire reality is changing, whole governments are failing and aliens are invading. And you! And your god forsaken branch of the family are wasting valuable family resources on this bloody civil war of yours! And she! She!... she hit the family\'s finances and left with a sizable amount of its stocks that she had somehow been able to gain discreetly by working under your grandmother.

Your side of the family are a fucking pest! You guys are bleeding us dry and leaving us weak and unprepared for the new era that is coming. This meeting is to address those bloody issues and have you all answer for you crimes against this family and it\'s interest."
