Chapter 209: Zombie Wave ( 10 )

The camp\'s defenses were strained. The wooden platforms creaked, and the ropes holding them groaned.

The zombies clawed at the trunks, their rotting fingers leaving streaks of decay. They all fought with desperation, blades and makeshift weapons clashing against undead flesh…

\'This is getting bad… But as long as we survive this first wave, we can change location… The cave that was cleared by Shane\'s team must be a good place since it\'s narrower and a lot easier to protect.\' Lily thought for a moment.

However, as she tried to encourage her fellow survivors, a problem finally appeared.

It happened—a large version of Jumper Zombie leaped, its elongated limbs propelling it toward the tree house where Lily and Elsa stood.

It seemed to be a combination of the Crypt Crawler and Jumper Zombie!

Panic surged through the camp as they saw the unknown Zombie.

The two leaders exchanged a glance, their powers combining.

Lily\'s roots shot upward, entangling the mutated form of Jumper Zombie mid-air, while Elsa summoned a water spout that crashed into it, drenching it in liquid force!

Splash~

But the creature was persistent.

It thrashed, its jaws snapping as it tried to destroy its bindings.

Soon, the wooden platform splintered. And then, from the shadows, a figure appeared—Jake, the engineer, wielding a metal pipe.

He swung with all his might, the pipe connecting with the Jumper Zombie\'s skull before it exploded!

All the gunpowder he had saved for critical juncture was used up with that special attack!

The creature fell, and its threat was extinguished!

The camp erupted in cheers, but the danger wasn\'t over.

The survivors regrouped, as they fought against the remaining Zombies…

It took another half an hour before the last Zombie of the first wave was killed!

Nonetheless, they remained vigilant as their eyes scanned the forest canopy. They knew that there could be more zombies to come.

Luckily, after a while, they no longer heard the grunts or roars of zombies and confirmed that they had survived the first wave.

Lily wiped the sweat from her brow, her gaze lingering on Elsa. It was a close call.

Just on this first wave, they used up a lot of resources, and Jake even had to use his modified metal spear.

Suddenly, the tree houses quivered as it seemed to be reminding them that the foundation of the trees had weakened.

Well, after the first wave, the once-sturdy tree houses now felt like precarious perches, their wooden platforms groaning as the undead clawed at the trunks a while ago.

Lily and Elsa, the leaders of this desperate refuge, exchanged a glance—a silent acknowledgment that their time was running out.

"We can\'t stay here," Elsa declared, her voice firm. The camp had been their sanctuary, but it was no longer defensible. The zombies would keep coming, wave after wave, and the survivors were outnumbered. The Zombie Wave will last for 12 hours and they only survived the first hour. They had to endure about ten or even more waves of zombies!

Lily\'s mind raced. "Where should we go?" she asked, scanning the forest canopy. "Should we try going to the cave?"

She said while also explaining how the narrow path could save them… It might allow them to win against the wave since they would only have to face five or six zombies at the same time.

But the others had heard their conversation.

A hushed murmur spread through the camp, and a young man named Alex stepped forward. "I think we should try to go to Shane\'s camp," he suggested. "They have Elves and even a terrifying Monk on their side."

Lily and Elsa exchanged another look.

Shane\'s camp—the name resonated with hope.

They had been invited there before, but pride and self-reliance had kept them apart. Now, faced with the relentless onslaught of the undead, they seemed to have no choice. That was a tempting suggestion, and to be honest, the two leaders also had these thoughts at the back of their minds.

However, they were just worried that Shane would be greedy, and perhaps, he would request for the two of them to serve him, especially during the night.

Nonetheless, this was a matter of life and death… It wasn\'t just their lives on the line but also the people that trusted them.

After some hesitations, Lily nodded.

"We agree," Elsa said, her voice steady. "We\'ll go to Shane\'s estate."

Just like that, the survivors moved with urgency. They packed their meager belongings, descended from the tree houses, and looted the zombies on the ground.

Of course, most of the looting tasks were done by Lily and Elsa since they were the ones who had truly worked a lot in the first wave.

It was followed by Jake, then by Alex, and so on… They all gained an increase in experience but not enough to level up just yet. Nonetheless, they obtained precious food, weapons, and even Zombie Cores that would help them purchase a few important items in the Survivor Store…

Anyway, this was all done in a hurry since the next wave would probably come any minute soon… They would surely follow their traces, so they had to move quickly.

Thankfully, they all had decent Agility and Strength, and the terrain didn\'t bother them. They had also brought supplies—weapons, food, and other essentials, so even if they get ambushed or hungry, they had the resources to respond.

As they made their way through the forest, Lily\'s heart raced.

Shane\'s camp was their last hope. The Elves and the Monk—the very thought of their formidable allies spurred her on.

She glanced at Elsa, who nodded in silent determination.

Whatever Shane would request from them, they would have to accept it in return for protecting them.
