Chapter 2687: Sky Sect 13
After delivering this reprimand, the Sect Leader of Xing Sect couldn’t bear to look at the two of them any longer. He turned away in anger and departed.
While the Xing Sect might not hold a high status in the Sky Sect and was tasked with miscellaneous duties, they had always been diligent, seldom making mistakes. The Heaven Emperor was generally content with their performance.
However, this fool had caused significant trouble since arriving at the Xing Sect. What impression would the Heaven Emperor now have of the Xing Sect?
Years of conscientious leadership as the Sect Leader had been jeopardized. It was infuriating. He wished to cast these two individuals as far away as possible.
Once the Sect Leader of Xing Sect left, the pair prepared to head to the back mountain.
Exchanging glances, they sighed. Uncertain whether going to the back mountain was a positive or negative turn of events, their moods soured.
Still.
Before leaving, Gu Chaoyan bowed to the female officer in charge of her.
The female official even spoke up for her, but she went to cause trouble.
She wondered if this matter would implicate her.
The female official waved her hand. She did not think much of it.
The Sect Leader of Xing Sect didn’t make things excessively difficult for her. Perhaps fueled by his initial displeasure with the girl, he placed almost all the blame on her.
However, it was a regrettable outcome.
Being assigned to the back mountain meant there was likely no future for her in the Sky Sect.
She sighed, recognizing that their fate hinged on their own actions. She felt truly helpless.
“Is this the back mountain?” Gu Chaoyan inquired, eyeing the modest elevation.
“Yeah, usually, there’s no one here, and there’s not much to it. Just some chickens, ducks, and geese that the human world consumes, along with a few vegetables. There aren’t even any wild beasts on this mountain. It’s like being in exile when you come here, and no one pays much attention afterward,” the other girl explained, her tone somewhat melancholic.
Despite having more free time each day without laundry duties, the chances of reaching the clouds seemed almost impossible for her.
Always feeling melancholic, she regarded the place with a sense of resignation. According to her description, they were now at a lower level than the laundry tasks, a considerable difference.
Meeting the Heaven Emperor felt like an unattainable dream.
“Don’t worry, we’ll find an opportunity. What matters most right now is not giving up,” Gu Chaoyan reassured. Even though there seemed little they could do, she refused to let her beliefs crumble. Losing that would mean losing everything.
She nodded along.
“Lin Xue, my name,” she introduced.
“Gu Chaoyan!”
The two of them could be considered to be familiar with each other.
Of course, it should be hard for the Sect Leader of Xing Sect to imagine that it was these two people who did such a huge thing without even knowing who they were.
Gu Chaoyan and Lin Xue had not expected that they would have such a tacit understanding.
After the introduction, Lin Xue asked dispiritedly, “What should we do now?”
Gu Chaoyan looked around.
What should they do?
With no pressing tasks to attend to in the back mountain, they were to reside there in the future.
Since they were already there, they decided to take things as they came. Regarding the prospect of reaching the clouds, they figured they’d slowly brainstorm a plan. There was always a way.
Now, it was time to unwind.
“Let’s roast some meat first. It’s pretty dull here anyway. We’ll have the energy to think after we eat,” Lin Xue suggested optimistically, looking at her with a sense of responsibility.
This optimistic outlook provided a much-needed boost.
