Chapter 1248 - Rainforest

Chapter 1248: Rainforest

The Rainforest map was the most confusing out of all the possible choices. When players were spawned into the map, their locations would be chosen at random.

If your team was lucky, you would have the advantage, and if not, then who knew what would happen?

Practicing on the Rainforest map would obviously help a lot.

Traditional team compositions were useless because the map was way too large and as such, the Priest would be left to fend for themselves. March Rain was put on the reserve, so the team consisted of Moonlight, Lu Li, Kitty Likes Meat and Fat Monkey. Sakura Memories also sat out; she was busy levelling up like she wanted to and had no complaints.

After the map was chosen, the teams were given half an hour to prepare themselves. The half-hour was actually more for the away team to come up with a strategy in the short time that they had.

“We’ve only played on this map once. I didn’t think they would actually choose it,” Lu Li sighed.

The Rainforest was the first map that Lu Li eliminated from the possible maps that would be chosen. No other club would choose this map in a proper match. However, ever since Wendelian had taken over as the team captain, Gale Legion had become very unorthodox in their playstyle.

“We should figure out a few gathering points first and learn how to navigate through the Rainforest. Whichever team gathers together first will have the advantage,” Moonlight said.

He was very experienced and had excellent game sense. Though he wasn’t the best at shot-calling, he immediately knew what to do as soon as he saw the map.

When the players were teleported into the Rainforest, they would spawn alone. If they were near an opponent, there would be no backup, which meant that there would be many 1v1 matchups. If you were extremely unlucky and spawned near two other enemies, the chances of survival would be extremely slim.

Therefore, as Moonlight mentioned, whichever team gathered together first would have the advantage.

“We can organize three gathering points, forming a triangle. The first will be the steep mountains, which is probably the best choice, but we have to be careful if Gale Legion also chooses the same point. There’s also a waterfall here and we can meet at the end of the river. The last place will be the most west point on the map,” Moonlight proposed.

It seemed very simple when Moonlight was explaining this on paper, but in reality, the terrain was a lot more confusing than this.

“Lucky Hachi Chan isn’t in this match. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to go anywhere,” Lu Li joked, trying to make every feel less tense.

Hachi Chan was so bad at navigating that not only her teammates wouldn’t be able to find her, but even the enemies wouldn’t be able to either. The only person in the world that could find her was herself.

If it wasn’t because of her talent in dungeons, or her ability to charm NPCs, this little girl wouldn’t stand a chance in the cruel gaming world.

“The most important thing is to know your direction, know where you are and where you’re going. I’ll teach everyone how to figure out your direction with the sun and stars. If you can’t see anything, then look at the leaves on a tree. The thicker leaves and branches indicate North and vice versa. Once you figure out North from South, then it’s easier from there. Besides this, you can also...”

Moonlight was obviously an expert in this field and taught his teammates some survival tactics, including positioning, how to camouflage yourself, how to observe your surroundings...

There were also monsters in the Rainforest and most of them were Elites. Most players could only take on one at a

time and if they were ambushed while fighting a monster, they would have no chance of surviving.

After a very rushed lesson of surviving in the woods, the players were teleported into the map.

Lu Li spawned in a very dense forest and everything around him was black. He could feel the rain falling from above; it was very foggy and extremely humid.

The visibility was very poor and the giant trees above him made it difficult to tell between day and night, especially when it was cloudy and raining.

Lu Li sighed lightly.

He hated this kind of map, but the real loser was Fat Monkey as the power of his fire skills was also reduced by at least half.

Lu Li climbed onto a tree and sat on top of a branch.

In real life, he would never do something like this. If he climbed too high, he could fall off and break his leg. However, if he were to fall off in the game, then all he had to do was transform into a Leopard to reduce the damage taken from falling.

He scoped around, but unfortunately didn’t find anyone. There seemed to be some monsters nearby, but Lu Li wanted to stay as far away from them as possible.

He determined the direction he was headed in with Moonlight’s survival tips and decided that he should head towards the waterfall.

In order to increase their survivability, Thieves had a passive that made their footprints disappear much faster than other classes. This effect included both snowy and sandy terrain.

Lu Li decided to use his environment to his advantage rather than using Stealth.

The chat-box was completely empty as the map prohibited players from communicating to each other via messages. All they could do was to gather at the points that they had discussed earlier.

Lu Li would often climb onto trees to investigate his surroundings.

When he was little, there was a time when he was being bullied and he quickly climbed into a tree to escape. He climbed so high that the kids couldn’t even reach him with rocks or long branches.

He still remembered the thrill of throwing nuts at them for revenge.

Lu Li was a master at climbing trees and this translated into the game. He noticed that there might have been some movement up ahead.
